I’ve been solo backpacking Southeast Asia for 3 months now. The time has flown by, but I have made so many great memories and met some amazing people during my travels.
Scuba diving off an island in Thailand, mountain trekking in Laos, riding through the mountains of Vietnam, exploring ancient temples in Cambodia, biking around downtown Singapore, and walking through Malaysia’s street markets are just a handful of experiences that were truly admirable.
The ease of travel within the Southeast Asia region allowed me to see so much during this short period. Fostering new friendships and experiencing different cultures has provided a new perspective on life. One that opened up my mind to how much is really out there in this world.
In looking back at the last 3 months, I am truly grateful for this opportunity to travel and see this amazing region. Solo travel isn’t always rainbows and sunshine though. It’s a humbling experience. New environments can be difficult to adjust to. I visited 19 cities and 6 islands, and each place was as if it were a fresh start. A transient lifestyle that has resulted in a new found appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. They shouldn’t be taken for granted.
There is beauty in simplicity.
I have decided to discontinue my blog as I continue my travels. I will be heading to Indonesia next. For those who have tagged along during my journey so far and provided support, thank you very much.
